Have you ever wrestled with the following question – How can I make my roof last longer? In answer to this question, many Orange County Roofers likely would recommend taking some universally proven steps to extend roof performance.
The first step requires homeowners to do nothing. That’s right. What you don’t want to do – ever – is power wash your roof. When you take this action, those glistening jetstreams of water probably will loosen some of the granules protecting your shingles. Damage invariably will result. Maybe not right away. But it will happen. And because of your well-intentioned action, the warranty you’re counting on likely will be invalidated. So, don’t power wash.
What you do want to do is clean your rain gutters at regular intervals. Why is this important? Because debris tends to collect in those channels. When a sufficient amount of twigs and leaves coalesce in a gutter, a mini-dam forms. This compact dam will block water flow and keep it from draining to the ground. In many cases, the undrained rainwater will overflow onto places it shouldn’t go – such as outer walls and shingles. From there, leakage has a real good chance of taking place. Does shingle cleaning sound like too much trouble and bother? No problem. A qualified Orange County Roofing Company will be happy to perform the cleansing for you. Just ask.
Finally, make sure your roof is properly ventilated. By doing so, you’ll minimize the possibility of mold formulation and other moisture related issues. Again, qualified Orange County Roofers can help in this area.

I saw this article about extending the life of your roof. I'm not sure if we're a candidate or not as ours is not looking great. It's not yet leaking, but we're concerned and would rather handle this prior to a leak.
Hi Pete!
That makes perfect sense and is a wise move. But I'll tell you what.. I've seen many roofs that don't look that great but have a few years left in them. And we're not shy about sharing the truth with you. Honestly, it's one of the advantages of going with a smaller roofing company with a stellar reputation.
